    What Is a Half Repair Pipe Sleeve?

    A half repair pipe sleeve, also called a half-sole or split casing sleeve, wraps around a damaged section of pipe to reinforce it from the outside. Two half-sections are fitted around the pipe and welded together along the longitudinal edges.

    This method suits a wide range of pipeline defects, including corrosion, dents, gouges, cracks, and faulty girth welds. A half repair pipe sleeve lets you fix a damaged pipeline section without shutting down the entire line — keeping your operation running while repairs happen, which saves both time and throughput loss.

    We custom-build every half repair pipe sleeve according to client specification, so it fits your exact pipe diameter and repair requirement, matching size, wall thickness, and steel grade.

    Sleeve Selection Logic

    Best for leaking defects — wall thickness equal to or greater than the pipe’s maximum allowable operating pressure.

    Manufacturing

    Production Process

    Every half repair pipe sleeve we produce goes through the same three forming stages — never heat treating, which keeps material properties consistent and predictable.

    Rolling

    Steel plate is rolled to match the required curvature and inside diameter of the target pipe.

    02

    Die Forming

    The rolled half-section is die-formed for a precise, consistent fit around the pipe’s outside diameter.

    Step Braking

    Final forming step locks in dimensional accuracy ahead of edge preparation and welding.

    Edge PreparationLongitudinal edges come beveled for welding as standard, though the bevel angle can be adjusted to your specification.
    End FinishingSleeve ends are shaved square to enable fillet welding, with square-end bevels available on request.
    WeldabilityCarbon equivalency is kept low across our steel plates to ensure strong, reliable weldability in the field.

    Dimensional Specifications

    The inside diameter of each half repair pipe sleeve is fabricated to match the outside diameter of standard nominal line pipe. When the two halves are fitted around the pipe, their combined circumference equals the pipe’s circumference, minus a small welding gap along each longitudinal edge.
