PROPERTIES FOR HALF REPAIR PIPE SLEEVE
Half Repair Pipe Sleeves are used for internal or external corrosion, dents, cracks & other defective leaks & girth welds. We ensure that our half repair pipe sleeve materials are certified & the carbon equivalent will not exceed 0.45 per cent.
MATERIALS USED FOR HALF REPAIR PIPE SLEEVE
All our half repair pipe sleeve are made with the materials that are according to ASTM specifications. Structural quality carbon steel plates & pressure vessel quality carbon steel plates are used for manufacturing half repair pipe sleeve. ASTM specifies percentages of the chemical compositions of the material used & we make sure it is according to the specified standards. The materials used for structural quality carbon steel are ASTM A36 (minimal yield 36,000 psi), ASTM A572 GR42, GR50, GR55, GR60, and GR65 (minimal yield 36,000 psi). For pressure-rated vessel the grades used are ASTM A516 GR55, GR60, GR65, and GR70 (for minimal yield 38,000 psi) & ASTM A537 Class1, 2 & 3 (minimal yield 50,000 psi). We manufacture half repair pipe sleeve in any grades from the above as per the requirement of the clients.
FEATURES OF HALF REPAIR PIPE SLEEVE
The half repair pipe sleeve can be used for internal and external corrosion, gouges, dents, grooves, arc burns, cracks, defective girth welds, laminations and leaks. Pressure containing sleeves feature a wall thickness equal to or greater than required for the maximum
allowable operating pressure or the full strength of the pipe being repaired. The half repair pipe sleeve material is certified and the carbon equivalent will not exceed 0.45 percent. Each half-sole segment comes with one pre-crimped back-up strip. Half Repair Pipe Sleeve can be used as pads or cradles for above ground piping, drain tile supports and patches (segments in 90° and 180° arcs, from 6-inches to 10 feet in length are available as specials). Each half repair pipe sleeve has standard bevels with a back-up strip and material certifications. Sleeve ends are square cut.
PRODUCTION OF HALF REPAIR PIPE SLEEVE
There are 3 methods of manufacturing half repair pipe sleeves viz. rolling, step braking & die-forming without the heat treatment.
Longitudinal edges of the half repair pipe sleeve are bevelled for welding. If required it can also be bevelled at 30 degrees by plasma torch burning. Half Repair Pipe Sleeve ends have sheared square edges for fillet welding but it can be customized as per client specifications. Our half repair pipe sleeve are manufactured from the best quality carbon steel material. We pride ourselves on making the half repair pipe sleeve by rolling, die forming and step braking and they never undergo heat treating. Thus making our expertise & technique best in the industry. If a client specifically asks for longitudinal edges of the half repair pipe sleeve to be beveled for welding, it can be done. Half repair pipe sleeves ends have shaved square edges to enable fillet welding, although square end bevel can also be made as per client specification. Our for repair sleeves are made with carbon steel plates with low carbon equivalency to ensure good weld ability.

As per the client’s requirements, the half repair pipe sleeve can be fabricated as per the specifications are given by the clients regarding the materials used, wall thickness, angle of the bevels etc. If required by the clients, reports of various tests like a destructive, magnetic particle, liquid penetration, ultrasonic & radiographic reports can be furnished along with the product. We manufacture half repair pipe sleeve in any size as per the client’s requirement.
MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND TESTING
Mill test reports will be furnished on all materials. Stock plate is not available with a maximum hardness guarantee. Independent testing may be performed to check the hardness on stock plate. Additional independent testing available to include: destructive, magnetic particle, liquid penetrate, ultrasonic and radiographic.
DIMENSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Longitudinal edges are beveled to 30 degrees (+5 degrees -0 degrees), with a root face (land) of 1/16″ (+-1/32″). This will be a mechanical type bevel or by plasma torch burning. Beveled ends are available upon request. Inside diameter of each Half Pipe Sleeve is fabricated to match the outside diameter of standard nominal line pipe. Half repair pipe sleeve are manufactured so that when two halves of the sleeve are placed on the pipe, their total circumference shall equal the circumference of the pipe minus a gap between the longitudinal edges on either side of 1/16″ (-1/16″+1/32″) for welding.
